Amarr Garage Door Cable Repair in San Antonio: What to Know First

Amarr garage door cable repair in San Antonio typically runs $130 – $250, and a snapped or frayed cable is a same-day fix for us in most cases. We’re an independent Amarr service provider, which means we repair the door you own without being tied to a manufacturer’s schedule or parts pipeline. If your Amarr door is hanging crooked, making a grinding noise, or one side is sitting higher than the other, call (361) 314-2738 and we’ll give you the written price before anything gets touched.

This page is for Amarr owners across San Antonio, from Alamo Heights to Stone Oak to Helotes, who want to know exactly what’s wrong, what it costs, and how fast it gets fixed. You’ll get all three here.

How Amarr Products Fail – and How We Fix Them

Amarr builds a solid door, but every brand has patterns. Here’s what we see most often on Amarr doors in San Antonio homes, and what we do about it.

  • Classica and Stratford series: cable wear at the bottom bracket. These are Amarr’s steel carriage-house designs, and they’re all over neighborhoods like Terrell Hills and King William. The cable loops through a bracket at the bottom corner of the door. Over years of San Antonio heat, the galvanized cable picks up corrosion, and the constant flexing at that bracket point frays the strands. Eventually it snaps under tension, usually when the door is halfway up. We replace both cables as a pair and inspect the bracket itself for hairline cracks before reinstalling.
  • Heritage series: uneven tension from one cable stretching. The Heritage line is a workhorse, but the cables on an older Heritage door can stretch at slightly different rates. You’ll notice the door starting to close with a dip on one side, or a faint metallic pop when the door reverses. Left alone, that uneven tension puts extra load on the torsion spring and can snap it. We re-level the door, balance both cables, and if the spring has started to fatigue, we tell you before it fails, not after.
  • Olympus series: cable slip from worn drums. On Amarr’s heavier insulated doors, the lift cables wind onto grooved drums at each end of the torsion tube. When those grooves wear smooth, the cable loses its seat and can jump the drum mid-cycle. The door then drops unevenly and the cable bird-nests around the shaft. This one looks scary but it’s a straightforward fix: new drums, reseated cables, and a rebalanced door. We carry the drum sizes that match Olympus models so we’re not ordering parts and leaving your door on the floor.
  • Lincoln series: loose hardware from daily cycling. These mid-tier steel doors get used hard, sometimes a dozen cycles a day. The bolts holding the cable brackets and hinges work loose over time, and a loose bracket changes the cable angle by a few degrees. That angle change is enough to cause premature wear in one specific spot. We don’t just swap the cable; we torque every fastener on the door and replace any hinge that’s wallowed out. The cable fix only lasts if the door is tight.
  • Aftermarket vs. OEM cables on Amarr doors. Amarr uses aircraft-grade galvanized steel for its cables, and the diameter matters: most Amarr residential doors use 1/8-inch or 3/16-inch cable depending on the door weight and spring configuration. A thinner aftermarket cable will fit the drum but won’t hold up to the load rating the door was engineered for. We use cables rated to match or exceed the OEM spec, and we tell you which one your door takes before we install it. You don’t want the same failure in 14 months, and neither do we.

Our Amarr Garage Door Cable Repair Process

Jaylen Ross runs our San Antonio garage door cable repair calls, and he’s been working doors here for over a decade, everything from newer Amarr installs near The Pearl to 20-year-old doors in Castle Hills that haven’t been touched since they were hung. Here’s how an Amarr cable job goes from first call to done.

  1. 1
You call or book online. Tell us what the door is doing. Jaylen says it best: “Tell me what’s broken. I’ll tell you what it costs. Then we fix it.” You’ll see the tech en route with live tracking, so you’re not waiting through a four-hour window.
  2. 2
We diagnose the full door, not just the cable. A snapped cable is usually the symptom, not the disease. We check the spring, the drums, the brackets, the hinges, and the track alignment before recommending a fix.
  3. 3
You get a written price. The number is locked before a single wrench turns. If you approve it, that’s the number on the invoice. No surprises at the door.
  4. 4
We replace the cables as a pair. Even if only one snapped, the other has the same age and wear. Doing one cable leaves you with a mismatched system. On Amarr doors we verify the cable diameter matches the door weight and spring spec.
  5. 5
We test the full cycle. Door opens, closes, reverses under the safety sensor, and sits level. We lube the rollers and hinges while we’re there if they need it, and we check the balance with the opener disengaged.
  6. 6
You get the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If that cable repair fails inside a year, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s in writing, every job, no exceptions.

What Amarr Garage Door Cable Repair Costs in San Antonio

The lead range on this page is $130 – $250 for Amarr cable repair in San Antonio, and most single-cable jobs land between $140 and $190. Here’s what moves the number:

  • Single cable replacement: $130 – $170. One cable snapped, the other in decent shape, door rebalanced after.
  • Both cables replaced (recommended): $180 – $250. This is the repair we quote most often, because replacing one cable on an Amarr door and leaving the other is a callback waiting to happen.
  • Cables plus drums: $220 – $320. If the drums are worn smooth, the new cables won’t seat properly. We swap the drums at the same visit.
  • Cables plus torsion spring: $310 – $590. A snapped cable often took the spring with it, or vice versa. We check the spring on every cable call and tell you if it’s near the end of its cycle life.

Every price is quoted and agreed before work starts. Estimate is free. Call (361) 314-2738 and you’ll get the exact number, not a range with fine print.
